Cigarettes more expensive as of Today in BiH

Cigarettes are more expensive in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of today, as the decision of the Board of Directors of the Indirect Taxation Administration (ITA) of BiH to increase the minimum excise duty by 0.19 BAM per pack of cigarettes has come into force.

According to the decision of the Board of Directors of the ITA, the minimum excise duty on 1,000 cigarettes in 2026 is 188.50 BAM, or 3.77 BAM per pack of 20 cigarettes.

Last year, the minimum excise duty was 179 BAM per 1,000 cigarettes, or 3.58 BAM per pack.

The specific excise duty on cigarettes remains unchanged at 1.65 BAM per pack of 20 cigarettes.

The excise duty on smoking tobacco has been set at 80 percent of the minimum excise duty on cigarettes and this year amounts to 150.80 BAM per kilogram, while in 2025 it was 143.20 BAM.

The ITA BiH Management Board also decided on the compensatory interest rate for the period from January 1 to June 30, 2026. The rate remains unchanged at 12 percent.
