It is extremely important to improve security in the Western Balkans, economic development and progress in the region and create further preconditions for rapprochement and integration into the European Union, said the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotic with German State Secretary Miguel Berger.
Cikotic met today in Sarajevo with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Miguel Berger, with whom he discussed the security situation and the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
It was emphasized that the improvement of security in the Western Balkans, economic development and progress of the countries in this region and the creation of further preconditions for rapprochement and integration into the European Union are extremely important, the BiH Ministry of Security said.
Cikotic emphasized Bosnia and Herzegovina’s readiness to continue creating a secure environment, through the improvement of the security system in BiH, but also cooperation with partner countries and a joint response to security threats and challenges.
The interlocutors especially emphasized the importance of support in the fight against organized crime, where the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany have so far had extremely good and successful cooperation.
Minister Cikotic also informed Secretary Berger about the measures that BiH is taking in the fight against illegal migration and human trafficking and the care of migrants residing in the territory of BiH.
He pointed out that a significant step forward had been made in this area, which resulted in a reduction in the number of migrants on the territory of BiH, while at the same time building capacity for adequate accommodation of persons in temporary reception centers in BiH.
