A citizen of BiH, who did not want to reveal his identity and who immigrated from BiH to Lisbon during the war, now decided to help a Syrian family from Aleppo. He gave them his apartment to use for free.
Aleed, his wife Nauiroz and their two children are still haunted by the images of destruction of their city and the terrors of the war in Syria. After they immigrated to Lisbon, they had a difficult time coping with the new environment, until they encountered some good people.
One of them was Abdool Valik from the Islamic Organization in Lisbon, who helped the family find their way around the capital of Portugal and through his friend, a citizen of BiH, he managed to find them a place to live.
Aleed and his family have been living in Lisbon for a year now, but he still did not manage to find a job. Portuguese authorities have Aleed and Nauiroz a two year deadline to learn the local language and find a job, in order to acquire temporary citizenship.
Aleppo, once a beautiful city, is now just a ruin, and Aleed says that militants are using Islam as an excuse for violence.
“Islam is a religion of peace. That is why the militants of the Islamic State are nothing else but frauds,” said Aleed.
