Citizens of Gornja Maoca Deny any Connection with the ISIS

gornja maocaTwo days after pictures and recordings of the flags and the symbols claimed to be associated with the flag and symbols used by the terroristic organization ISIS in the village Gornja Maoca, the situation in the village is relatively calm. At the abandoned house on which the conspicuous and controversial flags were found, only remains of wooden poles where they were hung are visible, and graffiti painted in white color. At the time of the visit of Anadolu Agency (AA), all the village’s residents were in the mosque at Jummah prayer.

Villagers however deny they have any connection with ISIS, stating that they do not support the self-proclaimed organization “Islamic State”.

And when it comes to the sign of  the “Islamic State”, they claim that ISIS uses a sign that has  already been in use for 1400 years and that  it is the stamp of the prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s. They are, among others, a group and organization, including Muslims in general that use this stamp. Regarding their  ideology, their’s personally and what they stand for, we do not agree with any of it. We have an attitude about them and that is what Islamic scholars have said. Our approach to the problems is that it should not be a matter for us“, said Bosnic.

Villagers of Gornja Maoca consider that they “do not represent any problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that the whole thing is exaggerated”.
