“Citizens have no Reason to fear the security Situation in Serbia”

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday that citizens of Serbia have no reason to fear the security situation and added that all necessary actions are being carried out in detail after the terrorist attack in front of the Israeli embassy in Belgrade, where a member of the gendarmerie was attacked on Saturday.

“We know that we are talking about several individuals who are gathered in the Wahhabi movement, of which Miloš Žujović is a part. They have already been heard and an extensive investigation is being conducted, and they are checking even the smallest details,” Dačić said.

Žujevic, who converted to Islam and took the name Salahudin, shot a member of the gendarmerie guarding the Israeli embassy in Belgrade in the neck with a crossbow at around 11 a.m. on Saturday. The man repeatedly approached the policeman, asking him where the museum was and the like, then he returned, opened the door of the house, took out a crossbow from the bag and wounded the policeman, who fired several shots and the attacker died half an hour later.

Dacic pointed out that the members of the Wahhabi movement, at least the more prominent ones, are being monitored, and that there is no reason to fear, adding that the red level of security in Serbia is still in effect.

“The fact that the red level of security has been extended for several days, and members of all competent services are working tirelessly to prevent possible new attacks, says Dacic, Beta reports.

In 2009, a Serbian court sentenced four Muslims, followers of the Sunni Wahhabi sect, to prison for planning an attack on a football stadium in Novi Pazar, the capital of the southern Serbian region of Sandžak, where the majority of the population are moderate Muslims.
