Ned Puhovac, Minister of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska said that today the Government of Republika Srpska hasdecided to abolish excise duties on fuel by 10 fening per liter for citizens and economy.

He said that they found the simplest solution – citizens who have an ID issued by the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska and domestic license plates will be able to purchase fuelat gas stations.

“Their bill will be reduced on the spot”, Puhovac said.

He said that there will be no limit on the amount of fuel that can be purchased.

This decision will take effect one day after its publication in the “Službeni glasnik” (Official Gazette) and will remain in force for one month. Puhovac believes implementation could begin by mid-next week.

“On Friday, we will hold talks with fuel distributors and gas station owners. The Government of Republika Srpska will reimburse them for the amount reduced from citizens’ fuel bills,” Puhovac said.

He noted that the Government of Republika Srpska continuously monitors market developments and responds accordingly. He believes that decisions on capping margins on fuel, basic foodstuffs, and medicines, as well as the decision to abolish excise duties, are” indicators that the Government of Republika Srpska cares for its citizens.”
