Hundreds of high school students, students, friends and citizens gathered today at the scene of yesterday’s tram accident in Sarajevo, in which one person died and four were injured.
At the scene of the tragedy, in front of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, flowers were laid and candles were lit for Erdoan Morankić, a young man whose life was tragically cut short. Morankić was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts, a young artist with a bright future ahead of him.
The aim of the gathering is to pay tribute to the tragically killed artist, but also to express solidarity with his family and all who knew him.
Pupils and students spread large banners with the inscriptions “Fight for justice” and “This could have been us”, making it clear that no one feels safe on public transport anymore.
A large number of citizens carried a banner that read “We are with you Ella, hold on”, dedicated to a 17-year-old girl whose leg was amputated and who is in serious condition in the General Hospital.
The convoy moved to the main road, which completely stopped traffic in the direction of the city center.
Those gathered said that the authorities’ statements are not enough, and they demand that all old trams be removed from traffic.
