After the verdict was passed confirming that the children’s resort Lozica, which is located near Dubrovnik, is owned by the Novo Sarajevo Red Cross, the mayor of Dubrovnik, Mato Franković, was addressed by the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić.

Karić thanked the mayor of Dubrovnik for maintaining the long-term cooperation between Sarajevo and Dubrovnik, and in that light she addressed him regarding the resort of Lozica, where the municipal Red Cross organization Novo Sarajevo, as part of its regular work activities with children and youth, has been organizing summer vacations for children and youth since 1959 until September 1991.

“The Lozica resort has a perspective of self-sustainability and an emphasized perspective of being an international center for young people, which would be very important for young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, considering the need for their inclusion in the international exchange of young people and the acquisition of new knowledge for new activities,” she said.

The mayor emphasized that by rehabilitating the buildings and the area around them, she wants to bring the building and the surrounding area back to the state it was in before 1991. In the first phase, the facilities must be cleaned and protected, and the property of the resort must be registered with the Municipal Red Cross Organization of Novo Sarajevo.

After a legal battle lasting more than 30 years, the children’s resort “Lozica” near Dubrovnik was returned to the Novo Sarajevo Red Cross, confirmed the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić.

The mayor had a meeting with the Novo Sarajevo Red Cross yesterday.

“The news is that a judgment has been passed ordering the City of Dubrovnik to issue a tabular document allowing the registration of the ownership of the municipal organization Red Cross Novo Sarajevo. It is necessary to clean up the premises and settle the costs of the legal proceedings,” Karić told BHRT.

It is the common interest of the canton, the city and the municipality to protect this valuable, multimillion-dollar property of about 4,000 square meters of land in a very attractive location and to dedicate its doors to recovery centers and resorts, it was said.

“It is a huge plot of land along the sea coast, a large baroque castle, a beach, a specially built underpass behind which there is a three-story hotel and two luxury villas”.

The resort was open throughout the year, mainly pensioners came in winter and spring, and in summer the area was used for school in nature and for the recovery of children after treatment.

“I am sure that we will benefit from extremely successful partnership and friendly relations with the City of Dubrovnik and the respected mayor Mato Franković,” said the mayor.

It is time for concrete strengthening of cooperation in the field of infrastructure, tourism, but also the preservation of our valuable heritage, she emphasized.
