Under the motto “From Sarajevo to the future”, this year’s Summit will be dedicated to the theme “The role of capital cities in strengthening sustainable development, peace, dialogue and multiculturalism”, with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation, exchange of experiences and creation of joint initiatives that contribute to the development of sustainable, open and prosperous cities.
Mayors and representatives of the cities of Zagreb, Ljubljana, Podgorica, Pristina, Ankara, Istanbul, Brussels, as well as high-ranking representatives of international institutions and organizations are expected to participate in the City Hall.
The official opening of the Summit is planned for August 14, with speeches by the Mayor of Sarajevo, Samir Avdić, as the host, the head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Rick Holtzapple, the head of the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković.

One of the most important results of the Summit will be the adoption and signing of the Sarajevo Declaration 2026, a document by which the participants will confirm their common commitment to peace, sustainable development, climate responsibility, regional cooperation and the protection of cultural diversity.
As part of the program, the participants will attend the ceremonial opening of the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, which will further promote the cultural dimension of Sarajevo and its international significance.
