DSCN1189The Association of Citizens “Stari Most” Mostar organized today a cleaning action of the old city of Mostar, which included the washing of streets and the cleaning of the Neretva and the plateau under the Old Bridge.

The action was carried out with the help of the Kayak, Diving and Club of Sport Climbing “Neretva”, the aquatic club “Explorer”, the Sports Environmental Association of Herzegovina, the Emergency Rescue Services and the Herzegovinian Mountain Rescue, and the General Sponsor of the Action is the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) Tourist Association.

The Deputy Director of the Tourist Association of HNK Semir Temim said in a statement to Fena how the relationship towards the old city is not as it should be, and that the old city does not deserve to be dirty.

He stressed that in today’s action around hundreds of members of clubs and associations participated, and that in a short time a lot has been done. All streets have been cleaned in the old city, and divers have cleaned the trough of the Neretva river and the mouth of the river Radobolje in the Neretva.

“The Tourist Association recognized the importance of this action, and its results are very visible’’, said Temim.

Member of the newly formed Association of citizens “Stari Most” Adis Kapetanović said that this is their first action and expressed satisfaction with the response of the citizens.

According to him, this Association will, with the organization of joint actions, pay attention in the future on the cleanliness of the old city because it is important for people who live and work there to wake up and see that the old city and Stari Most are a part of all of us.

“We have a pearl and we have to take care of it’’, said Kapetanović.
