The cantonal educational inspector for higher education ordered the University of Sarajevo to apply Article 77, paragraph I and II of the Law on Higher Education of the Canton of Sarajevo in connection with the acquisition of the doctor of medical sciences degree by Sebija Izetbegović, it was confirmed for Federal Television.
To clarify, this law mandates that the higher education institution annuls and declares the diploma, supplement to the diploma and the certificate of the acquired title invalid if the holder of the diploma has not fulfilled all the examination obligations of the study in the manner and according to the procedure established by the regulations.
This means that, after her master’s degree, Izetbegović could be left without a doctor of medical sciences degree. The deadline for the execution of this measure is 15 days from the receipt of the decision.
Sebija Izetbegović, the director of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, was deprived of the title of full professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo.
The decision to revoke Sebija Izetbegović’s title of full professor was made by the Senate of the University of Sarajevo.
At today’s session, the Senate annulled the Decision of the Senate of January 29, 2014, according to which Izetbegović was declared a full professor in the field of gynecology and obstetrics.
There were 30 votes in favor, eight abstentions and four against for the cancellation of her academic status.
Let us remind you that inspectors entered the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo last week following an application to cancel the doctorate of prof. Dr. Izetbegović. On March 15, the inspection received an application for the cancellation of the diploma.
On March 6, the UNSA Senate revoked the academic title of Master of Science of Sebija Izetbegović at an extraordinary session.
The director of the Clinical Center University of Sarajevo (UNSA) and representative in the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Assembly Sebija Izetbegovic spoke out after yesterday’s decision of the Senate of the UNSA to revoke her title of full professor.
“These are exclusively politically motivated procedures that are carried out for the purpose of achieving certain political agendas, as well as for the purpose of my personal discrediting. The manner in which this is done will surely be remembered as the dark period of the autocratic rule of Rector Skrijelj of UNSA, who in his vengeful urge does not stop himself from instrumentalizing the Senate of the University, nor from abusing valid proceedings and procedures in the rudest way,” Izetbegovic stated.
She said that such a case was unprecedented at UNSA.
“The demonstrated degree of violation of the Law on Higher Education and the Statute of UNSA has certainly not been recorded in the work of the University so far. Such a thing is only possible in the blindness of hatred and intolerance that rector Skrijelj publicly manifests, both towards the SDA and in relation to my personality. That this is a brutal inquisition procedure, in the implementation of which basic legal postulates are not respected, is confirmed by numerous violations of the Law on Higher Education and the Statute of UNSA, to which Rector Skrijelj likes to refer,” the director of the Clinical Center UNSA added.
In the end, Izetbegovic said that it is logical to ask the question, how it is possible to illegally obtain a master’s degree at the Faculty of Medicine and be elected to an academic position at the University, without anyone being held accountable for such alleged illegalities?
“With these actions, Rector Skrijelj is not only harming me but at the same time, he is permanently and irreversibly damaging the reputation of UNSA. Due to all of the above, Rector Skrijelj will have the opportunity to prove his claims with facts and evidence in court proceedings, but also before the competent prosecution, and not only by the hands of those senators who knowingly or unknowingly agree to be participants in the period of obscurity at the UNSA,” Sebija Izetbegovic concluded.
