Members of Coalition Of The Three in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), SDP, NiP and NS, believe that the actions of Max Primorac and Zeljana Zovko, whom they called “his accessory,” have as their primary goal the challenging and halting of the implementation of the Southern Interconnection project between BiH and the United States (U.S.).
“This extreme chauvinist and nationalist is trying to perfidiously wrap this in the veneer of a story about the so-called “third entity,” even though he knows that this idea is impossible to realise, while the essential intention, following the directives of those who give the orders, is to stop the latest political agreements surrounding the Southern Interconnection project,” they said, adding:
“It is not clear personally on whose behalf and in whose interest he is doing this, but the topics he initiates and promotes are aimed at destabilisation and raising tensions, the consequence of which is the halting of important processes. One of the projects that will definitely be affected by the raising of tensions is the Southern Interconnection, which is in no one’s interest, neither that of BiH nor of U.S. partners.”
Whether the reason for this type of destabilizing action is that someone’s business ambitions to take over this project of great value were completely neutralized by this agreement, the answer should be given first of all by Primorac, they pointed out.
The Coalition of Three members of parliament emphasise that it is clear there will be nothing of a third entity, federalisation, the departure of the High Representative, and similar topics that Primorac is promoting. However, it is also clear that their aggressive pushing destabilises the political space in BiH.
“Although these are topics that regularly appear before elections, it is very noticeable that this time it happened somewhat earlier, and precisely after a political agreement was reached with the U.S. on a joint arrangement in the construction of the Southern Interconnection, which is a strategically important project for avoiding dependence on Russian gas. Whether the reason for this type of destabilising activity is that this agreement has completely neutralised someone’s business ambitions to take over this high-value project is a question that Primorac, above all, should answer,” they stressed.
“Although in recent times signals have been coming from Washington that Primorac had been warned to distance himself from this project and to stop spreading disinformation, this has obviously not happened. Only the mode of action has changed in a way that seemingly has no connection with the Southern Interconnection. Primorac should also answer the question of whose interest it is to spread falsehoods about who truly cooperates with Western governments, promotes Western values, and friendship with the U.S.,” the statement says.
The Members of Parliament of the Coalition of the Three parties (SDP, NiP, and NS) say that they firmly stand by the position that undermining the Southern Interconnection project in any way must not be allowed.
