More than 90 kilograms of cocaine, worth more than 2.9 million euros, were discovered in the port of Thessaloniki in a shipment of bananas from Ecuador, the MIA agency reported today.

The Independent Public Revenue Authority of Greece (AADE) announced that customs inspectors using X-rays detected cocaine in a shipment of fresh bananas in a container that arrived from Ecuador, and the recipient was a French company, which sends bananas to Romania.

It is specified that the cocaine was packed in 80 packages with a total gross weight of 92.7 kilograms, carefully hidden in a special space in the cooling mechanism.

The drugs and the container were immediately confiscated, which was notified to the competent prosecutor’s office, while the investigation to discover the recipients of the cocaine continues.

Cocaine hidden in a container with bananas was discovered a few days ago in the port of Athens in a shipment that arrived from Ecuador.
