The 10th collective funeral and burial of remains of 13 victims will be held today at the Memorial Complex and Martyr’s Cemetery “Veljaci” in Bratunac.
Seven identified and six unidentified victims will be buried.
After the noon prayer, the funeral will be led by the Reis ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein Kavazović.
Remains of the victims were found in individual, joint and mass graves at the territory of Bratunac.
Spokesperson of the Institute for Missing Persons in BiH Lejla Čengić said that the youngest victim to be buried today is the minor Hasmir Salihović, killed at the age of 17. His remains were found in a burnt house, together with remains of the 18-year-old Nermin Smajlović, who will also be buried at this funeral.
Čengić said that those are entirely burnt remains identified on the basis of classic identification method, and they were found at the locality of Skelani, at the territory of Srebrenica.
Remains of Mirsad (Safet) Ščulić were found at the locality of Mravinjci, at the territory of Bratunac, and he was killed when he was 18 years old. Remains of Mirfet SUljuć, killed at the age of 20, were found at the locality of Voljavica, Bratunac area.
Čengić said that two women are among the victims which are to be buried during this collective funeral. Muška Lemeš was killed at the age of 48. Her remains were found at the locality of Knezovi, Srebrenica area. Fatima Osmanović was born in 1902 and is the oldest victim to be buried during the funeral in Bratunac.
Remains of Nurija Rizvanović were found at the locality of Glogova, at the territory of Bratunac, and he was killed when he was 65 years old.
“In addition to seven identified victims, remains of six unidentified victims will also be buried. Those are remains exhumed from mass graves Blječeva and Redžići, at the territory of Bratunac, and from an individual location at the locality of Suha, also the area of Bratunac. Bone samples for DNA analysis were taken from these remains and the DNA profiles were isolated, but there were no DNA matches found,” Čengić stated.
Čengić added that the unidentified remains will be buried under the marks of exhumation and autopsy and, in case there is a DNA match, their families will be notified.
Identified victims that will be burried in Bratunac today are:
- Hasmir (Hamid) Salihović, born in 1975 in Srebrenica;
2. Nermin (Idriz) Smajlović, born in 1974 in Srebrenica;
3. Mirfet (Mehmed) Suljić, born in 1972 in Bratunac;
4. Mirsad (Safet) Ščulić, born in 1973 in Bratunac;
5. Muška (Hakija) Lemeš, born in 1954 in Srebrenica;
6. Fatima (Ahmo) Osmanović, born in 1902 in Bratunac;
7. Nurija (Alija) Rizvanović born in 1928 in Bratunac.
