The Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, visited the municipalities of Rudo and Čajniče, where he met with the Mayor of Rudo, Mr. Dragoljub Bogdanović, and the Mayor of Čajniče, Mr. Miroslav Furtula, as part of EUFOR’s continued engagement with local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meetings provided an opportunity for an open and constructive exchange on the current security environment, local priorities, and the challenges and opportunities facing the two municipalities. Discussions also highlighted the importance of maintaining close communication between EUFOR and local authorities in support of a safe and secure environment.

Major General Fronda emphasized that stability remains the foundation for sustainable development, stronger communities, and improved quality of life for citizens. He reiterated that regular dialogue with local leaders enables EUFOR to better understand local perspectives while reinforcing cooperation with institutions across the country.

Major General Fronda also took the opportunity to visit the nearby ammunition storage facility, and discuss with its commander its significance to EUFOR’s capacity to monitor the disposal of surplus ammunition, weapons and explosives through its SAWAD (Small Arms Weapons Ammunition Disposal) cell.

The meetings reaffirmed the shared commitment to communication, partnership, and mutual understanding as key elements in preserving stability and supporting the well-being of communities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. EUFOR continues to operate under its mandate in support of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, maintaining a visible, credible, and impartial presence across the country.
