The Completion of the First Phase of Bicycle Lane in Novi Grad

bycicle laneAt the insistence of the Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komsic, activities on the building of the first phase of the bicycle lane at the location of the Municipality Novi Grad, 2.12 kilometers long,  were intensified. The route will pass through the both sides of streets: “Bulevar Mese Selimovica“ and the part of “Zmaja od Bosna“, from Nedzarici to the bridge on Otoka, as said in the statement of the Municipality Novi Grad Sarajevo.

So at the summer, the Municipality Novi Grad will be the first municipality in BiH that will have the bicycle track according to European standards.

According to the planned schedule, workers of KJKP “Rad“ are performing land works, that includes removal of asphalt, putting tampons and curbs, Currently, they are working on the route along “Bulevar Mese Selimovica“, from marketplace Heco to the RTV home, provided that they will soon continue with the construction of the track to Otoka.

It is planned to, as soon as the weather conditions allow, place the pigmented asphalts, that, because of its quality, is being used as a base for bicycle tracks. Along the track, also the horizontal signalization was planned, and will be able to use for WI-FI services.

Meanwhile, the Municipality Novi Grad, that maximally and efficiently provides all the necessary administrative support, will belt two rest stations along the track.

After the completion of the first phase, the building of the bicycle track through municipalities Novo Sarajevo and Centar, to the bridge Skenderija, was planned.

The total length of the track according to the project, that for the first time treats the bicycle traffic, is seven kilometers. The designing of the project and construction is jointly financed by the City of Sarajevo and the Direction for Roads of Canton Sarajevo.
