What are the Conclusions of the Meeting of independent Mayors in Sarajevo?

nezavisni-nacelniciMayors of Stari Grad, Bužim, Kalesija, Visoko, Bosanski Petrovac, Zenica and Goražde spoke today about joining and cooperation, but their strongly denied any speculations about the establishment of a new party.

Independent mayors who have won the elections in BiH met today in Sarajevo to discuss future cooperation. The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, Mayor of Visoko Amra Babić, Mayo of Bužim Zikrija Duraković, Mayor of Bosanski Petrovac Zlatko Hujić, Mayor of Kalesija Sead Džafić, Mayor of Goražde Muhamed Ramović and the Mayor of Zenica Fuad Kasumović. Independent mayors said that local government issues will be their priority and that they do not need political parties to solve them.

“There will be no establishment of a new party or joining a new bloc. I have the obligation towards 60 percent of voters from Visoko and it would be frivolous from me to deal with higher politics, instead of dealing with their problems. I do not have the desire or ambition to be a member of a political party which is commanded by someone,” said Amra Babić.

According to Babić and Kasumović, aim of the meeting is the joining of independent mayors so that they could do their job more efficiently and better than before, but not through a new political option.

“Politics is everything in life and all options are open, but if there are obstructions from higher levels there will be obstructions from out behalf as well. It is still early to talk about what we will do in political terms, but what matters is that the citizens stated in the elections that they are fed up with parties that deceived everyone,” said Kasumović.
