Izetbegović Corrias faktor.baMember of the Presidency of B&H Bakir Izetbegović talked yesterday with the Ambassador of Italy to B&H Rugger Corrias, among other things, about continuation of the “Brdo-Brioni” process and application of B&H for membership in the European Union.

This year, the meeting on top of the “Brdo-Brioni” process will be held in B&H. At this meeting, regional cooperation, mutual trust among the countries of the region and solving of open bilateral and regional issues in southeastern Europe will continue to be promoted.

As an honorary guest, Italian President Sergio Matarella will attend the meeting of presidents of the countries of southeastern Europe. Ambassador Corrias expressed satisfaction with that fact and announced forthcoming intense contacts about specifying the date and other details of the meeting.

During the meeting, it was jointly concluded that continuing accession of B&H to the EU is important, especially the next step on that path – submission of membership application.

It was reiterated that the application must be credible because only as such it has real chances to be accepted and that B&H gets the status of candidate country.

Ambassador Corrias highlighted that credibility of the application significantly depends on the establishment of a functional coordination mechanism, the Presidency of B&H stated.
