Constitutional Court of BiH Convenes Extraordinary Session Over Dodik’s Appeal

The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will decide on the merits of Milorad Dodik’s appeal on November 4, the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

The appeal was filed on August 20, and concerns a final verdict issued against Dodik earlier that month. Recall that Dodik was sentenced to one year in prison and a six-year ban on political activity for disrespecting the decisions of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dodik says that he does not recognize the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina as legitimate, but he filed the appeal with the justification that it is “the only way for his case to reach the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg”.

He has since complied with the verdict, and Ana Trišić-Babić has been appointed as acting president of the Bosnian entity of RS.
