Construction of Bicycle Lane in Novi Grad Started

avazRepresentatives of the Municipality of Novi Grad, City of Sarajevo, Road Directorate of Sarajevo Canton and KJKP Rad today visited the building site in Nedzarici, where works on the construction of bicycle lane in the area of Novi Grad have started. The lane section in the length of 2km 120 m will be built on the both sides trough the Boulevar of Mesa Selimovic to the bridge on Otoka.

This is the first stage of the project of construction of bicycle lane which will be built in total length of 6km 100m on the route through the territory of municipalities of Novi grad- Novo Sarajevo- Centar (Skenderija).

Edina Gabela, chairwoman of the Municipal Council of Novi Grad expressed her satisfaction that the realization of this project, important for citizens, began right in this municipality. “Municipality of Novi Grad will support this project by building the rest areas with benches and fountains, the entire area will be horticulturally set and adopted for the future users of this lane“, said Gabela.

Mayor of Sarajevo, Ivo Komsic, emphasized that it is a very significant project for citizens of Sarajevo because more and more people are using bicycles. “Construction of lane started from the Municipality of Novi Grad, but the project will be realized in phases, through the municipalities of Novi Grad, Novo Sarajevo and Centar. Two days ago, construction of the first route in the length of 2km 120m started. Construction will be financed by the City of Sarajevo, Road Directorate of Sarajevo Canton and works are performed by KJKP Rad“, said Komsic.

As said by the director of Road Directorate of Sarajevo Canton, Adem Zolj, value of building the bicycle lane FROM Nedzarici to Skenderija will be about 960.000 BAM.
