Consumer Basket for March amounts to over 3,166 BAM

The trade union consumer basket calculated by the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the month of March this year amounts to 3,166.30 KM.

The average salary paid in the Federation of BiH for January 2025 was 1,546.00 KM (the latest data published by the Federal Institute for Statistics). The minimum salary, according to the Decision of the Government of the Federation of BiH, is 1,000.00 KM. The coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the average salary is 48.83 percent. The coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the minimum salary is 31.58 percent, the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

When creating the trade union consumer basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH was taken into account, as well as the minimum living costs of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in elementary school.

The consumer basket itself consists of the following categories: food – 44.63 percent, housing and utilities – 13.85 percent, hygiene and health maintenance – 9.37 percent, education and culture – 10.11 percent, clothing and footwear – 11.37 percent, transportation – 4.35 percent and household maintenance – 6.32 percent.

In the food category, prices from three shopping centers for 86 items were used.

When it comes to hygiene and health maintenance, costs for ten items were included, and for housing and utilities, costs for six items were included, the statement said.
