In today’s parliamentary elections in Hungary, 74.23 percent of voters had voted by 5 p.m., the country’s electoral commission said.

The National Electoral Office website states that 7,527,742 voters were registered for today’s vote, and that 54.41 percent had voted by 1 p.m., while 66.01 percent had voted by 3 p.m.

The main candidates in the election, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of the Fidesz party and his opposition rival Péter Magyar of the Tisza party, announced earlier this morning that they had voted.

Orbán said on the occasion of the vote that “no patriot should stay at home, in order to protect the security of Hungary.”

Magyar said that “it is very important that everyone goes out and convinces every relative and friend to do the same.”

“It is very important that everyone comes out and cast their vote, and it is at least as important that we convince every friend, relative and acquaintance to do the same. Today we are writing Hungarian history, together with millions. To vote and to victory! God bless Hungary!”, Magyar wrote on the X social network.

Although both candidates claim that they are satisfied with the high turnout, analysts believe that it leads to a sure and convincing victory for Tis and Péter Magyar’s party.
