Consumer Basket in Bosnia is by 150 BAM lower than last Month

The consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for October 2020 amounts to 1,779.14 BAM and is 151.08 BAM cheaper than the consumer basket for the previous month.

The average salary paid in the Federation of BiH for August 2020 was 949 BAM (last data published by the Federal Bureau of Statistics) and is by 22 BAM lower than the average salary paid in July 2020.

The coverage of the Trade Union Consumer Basket with the average salary is 53.34 percent. When making the Trade Union Consumer Basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH was taken into account, as well as the minimum living costs of a family of four consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in primary school.

The consumer basket itself consists of food 42.4 percent, housing and utilities 17.5 percent, hygiene and health 8.8 percent, education and culture 6.7 percent, clothing and footwear 11.2 percent, transportation 7.8 percent, and household maintenance of 5.6 percent. In the food category, prices from three shopping centers were used for 84 items.

When it comes to hygiene and maintaining health, the costs for 12 items are included, and for housing and communal services, the costs for six items, the SSSBiH stated in the press release.
