stolac, BIHAs part of the restoration of national monuments financed by the EU, works in Stolac are continuing at an anticipated pace.

This is an ARCH project that is financed by the European Commission with 1.500.000 euros, and the Institute for the Protection of National Monuments at the Federal Ministry for Culture and Sport has done projects for four types of objects: Stari Grad Stolac, Bridges – bridge on Bregava, mills on Bregava, and Šarić house.

The European Commission had specific requirements for the selection of facilities for renovation. They have to be national monuments, and not private property, and they have had to be damaged during the war.

The third phase of works on the project ARCH Stolac: “The legacy as a bridge between communities’’, began at the end of October last year.

Due to heavy rains and increased flow of the river Bregava, works on the rehabilitation of the bridge in Stolac ceased, but work has again begun.

At two mills the roof structure has been placed, and for the third one material has been delivered.

Next week, the rehabilitation of the bridges will begin on three bridges.

At the Podgradska bridge the railing on the downstream side will be removed, the fence will be returned on the upstream side because it is assumed that it is the way it was, or that the stone was not finely carved, concrete elements will be removed and stones will replace it.
