The construction of the Peljesac Bridge is a permanent solution of Croatian and European territorial discontinuity at the Neum corridor, where legitimate interests of BiH will remain intact, wrote Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic to the President of the European Commission and officials in BiH.

In a letter to Jean-Claude Juncker, Plenkovic reported everything that Croatia has done in regard to the project of road connection with South Dalmatia, as announced by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The project is realized in consultation with the European Commission and in dialogue with BiH, recalled Plenkovic.

He reiterated that Croatia has the right to build a bridge on its territory and that all rights and legitimate interests of BiH will remain intact.

He also reminded on the important financial contribution of the EU, which is financing the largest and the most important infrastructure project in Croatia with a total of 357 million EUR.

An explicit understanding that Croatia has the right to build the Peljesac Bridge on its territory while respecting the right of BiH to a safe passage, was achieved, he stated.

“On these foundations were established technical parameters of the bridge that will not undermine rights and legitimate interests of BiH on the sea by any means,” as said in the statement.
