bicycle laneThe City of Sarajevo, although losing half of the budget last year, managed to complete the construction of a cycling track at the territory of the Municipality Novi Grad.

As the leader of one of the most significant city capital projects, the City of Sarajevo expects successful cooperation with the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, where the continuation of construction of the cycling track is planned in spring. The City of Sarajevo allocated funds amounting to 300.000 BAM in the budget for 2016 and provided the making of conceptual design of the cycling track at the territory of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo.

The project foresees the construction of the track from the bridge on Otoka, along the boulevard of Meša Selimović, all the way to the bridge on Dolac Malta, with the possibility of constructing an alternative route from the Bridge of Bosnian-Malaysian Friendship, along the Miljacka River, where the track would continue towards the Wilson’s Promenade to the Bridge of Suada and Olga.

What the City of Sarajevo expects from the Novo Sarajevo Municipality is the issuance of necessary permits so that the most favorable contractor could be selected and works could begin. Meeting has been recently held with representatives of the Ministry of Transportation of the Sarajevo Canton, who are ready to support this project, and the City of Sarajevo should soon sign an agreement with the Sarajevo Canton on joint financing of the cycling track at the territory of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo.
