Today in Sarajevo, a contract was signed between the Turkish Agency for the International Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA) and Turkish construction company ER-BU about the rehabilitation of the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad.
Coordinator of TIKA for BiH Zulkuf Oruč said that this project is the most prestigious project of TIKA in the year 2013.
He said that the ER-BU company worked on a restoration of Stari Most in Mostar and restoration of the bridge in Konjic. He added that this company was chosen because it is well experienced in building and rehabilitating bridges.
Oruč said that the agreement with ER-BU Company was reached last week and that the works will start on the 1st April 2013.
He noted that the reconstruction of the bridge is planned to be finished in 600 days, and the project is worth 9.2 million BAM.
”The Mehmed Paša Sokolivić Bridge in Višegrad is one of the most important historical monuments from the Ottoman Empire. It is the only monument who has a Nobel-prize novel written about it. We are very content about the realization of this project and we are happy that the company that already worked on bridges in Mostar and in Konjic won the tender for the rehabilitation of the bridge”, said Oruč.
