Chefs from Zenica Made the Biggest Burek in the World

burekAt the 26th International Culture Festival Katibim in Istanbul, the biggest burek in the world was made yesterday. It is a burek of 100 kilos of flour and 90 kilos of meat. – by Anadolu agency.

Four cooks who came from Bosnia and Hezegovina, spend almost the entire day in making the biggest burek in the world. They used 100 kilos of flour and 90 kilos of meat to make a burek baked in the 60 rectangular pans. Once it was baked, they placed it on the 25 square meters long table.

Many guests and visitors enjoyed this incommon event. They all had the chance to try the Bosnian burek.

Some other ingredients were also used in making the burek such as onion – 35 kilos of onion, 4 kilos of pepper, 3 kilos of salt, 20 liters of oil and 5 kilos of margarine and yoghurt.

The organizer of this interesting event is the Bosnian Association “Bridges of friendship” from Zenica.

The president of the Association Jasmin Imamović said that they plan to continue with more activites such as this one in the future as well.

“The Municipality of Zenica and the Municipality of Uskudar are friendly municipalities. We want to organize more things like this. This is a truly nice festival where we had the chance to promote our burek. We made the world’s biggest Bosnian burek at this festival and I believe this is our record. Our goal is to enter to the Guiness book of records.”- said Imamović.
