The Mayor of Trebinje Slavko Vučurević spoke with the President of Herceg Novi Municipality Dejan Mandić about commercial, economic and cultural cooperation between the two cities.

After the meeting, Vučurević said that they discussed the possibility of finding ways for easier and fast passage across the border for the residents of both cities, as well as alleviating the border control on both borders so that citizens of Trebinje can more easily sell their products in Herceg Novi.

Vučurević said that it is very important to find a way so that in the periods of summer crowds, citizens can quickly circulate in both directions.

‘’We see a big chance for Trebinje and Herceg Novi, and in cultural cooperation where we can realize joint projects and to hold joint cultural events’’, said Vučurević.

He announced that it is very important to foster better cooperation between Trebinje, Herceg Novi, Dubrovnik and the Municipality of Cavtat Kovavli, and proclaimed that the representatives of those two cities, under the mediation of Mandić, will soon be able to meet in Herceg Novi.

Mandić said that it is in the interest of Herceg Novi that better cooperation with Trebinje should be achieved in all areas.

Mandić noted that the construction of a large hotel complex in Kumbor, which is worth around 250 million Euros, can engage a work force from Hercegovina.

The mutual interest of establishing bus routes between the two cities was also highlighted at the meeting, but stated that the ”green light” for the project needs to be given by the BiH Ministry of Communication and Transport.
