Covic and Izetbegovic agreed to form Working Groups for the Election Law and BiH’s Path to the EU

During next week, three working groups will be formed that will deal with the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), more precisely with the fulfillment of 14 conditions of the European Commission, the Election Law, and the agreements in the Federation of BiH (FBiH) that have never been implemented.

It was confirmed to journalists yesterday after the meeting in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH by Dragan Covic and Bakir Izetbegovic, leaders of HDZ BiH and SDA.

Izetbegović stated that in the next week he would sit down and try to bring out questions from FBiH and that he believed that they would finish it by the end of March.

“The second group, which will deal with amendments to the Election Law of BiH, was formed earlier, and I expect the solution model and outlines to be determined by the end of April,” Izetbegovic said.

He explained that this is the implementation of the judgment of the Constitutional Court of BiH in the “Ljubic” case and the implementation of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. He noted that he did not think that Croats were a minority people, but spoke about the fact that the minority in the House of Representatives decides on behalf of the majority. He expects that the 14 priorities of the European Commission will be resolved by the end of the year.

Covic stated that, when it comes to the election legislation, he will sit down and discuss it in the next week.

“I think that we will resolve all disputed issues in FBiH and that we will have a plan as early as next week,” said Covic.

While answering the journalist’s question on what is the main and most important thing in solving the problems in the Federation of BiH, Izetbegovic said that it is the formation of the Federal Government and two new ministries.
