Covic: I see no Reason why the High Representative should make any new Decisions

President of the HDZ of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croat People’s Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Čović, said today in Mostar that he does not see any reason for the High Representative to make any new decisions regarding the Election Law.

Čović believes that High Representative Christian Schmidt did what he should have done. He does not think that he should act in any way when it comes to changing the law, that is, the FBiH Constitution.

“For all those who act anti-Dayton and block the processes, the High Representative always had a way to address those issues and decisions. But honestly, I don’t even call for such decisions, we just need to finish this work in the parliamentary procedure and put an end to this question of the president of the Federation of BiH and only then start the election of mandate holders and ministers,” said Čović.

Their goal, he says, is to finish it by the end of the month.

“Our goal is to try to finish it by the end of the month. Therefore, I see no reason why the High Representative should make any new decisions regarding the Election Law,” Čović assessed.

He said that in the last two days, the three representatives of the three constituent nations in the FBiH should have agreed that Lidija Bradara is the president of the Federation and that she has two vice presidents, adding that it has been a ritual for the last 30 years when it comes to the FBiH level of government.

“Given that the representative of the Bosniak people is avoiding the meetings, I think that they will finish that work today, and I deeply believe that the representative of the Croats Lidija Bradara and the representative of the Serb people in FBiH will agree that Bradara is the president of the Federation of BiH and that the other two are vice-presidents, and that they will submit it in a procedure. In other words, it will be clear that the SDA representative wants to block the process, which the SDA has been doing for the last four years,” he emphasized.

He expressed the hope that we would have a clear situation today, Fena reports.
