The stay of the football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Salt Lake City attracted a lot of attention from the BiH community in the state of Utah, where in addition to the open training of the Dragons, a special gathering of people from BiH who live in this part of the United States of America was organized.
More than 150 children attended the open training of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the camp of the MLS club Real Salt Lake, and the youngest fans had the opportunity to closely follow the national team members of the country from which their families come.
The event was organized in cooperation with the local community and representatives of the Real Salt Lake club, and the organization Islamic Society of Bosniaks in Utah played a significant role in the preparation of the program. As community imam Anis Sulejmanović told federalna.ba, the goal was to gather our people, present Bosnia and Herzegovina and enable the younger generations to feel connected to the homeland of their parents and ancestors.
In addition to the open training, the visitors were presented with the display of the Bosnian room, in which traditional objects, photographs and other details testifying to the rich cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina were exhibited.
The training was followed by a gathering of community members with a barbecue, music and conversation, so the whole event outgrew the framework of a sports gathering and turned into a kind of day dedicated to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The program was completed by the performance of musicians and an informal get-together that brought together numerous families from Utah and surrounding federal states.
Emir Tursić from Modriča, Aida Neimarlija from Mostar and Nerma Jahić-Kadić from Banja Luka participated in the organization of the event, with the support of the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in Utah.
The atmosphere in Salt Lake City once again confirmed that Bosnia and Herzegovina lives far beyond its borders. As the Dragons prepared for the next challenges at the World Championship, the Bosnian community in Utah took the opportunity to send a message of support to the national team and homeland through sport, tradition and togetherness.
