At the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Croatian Defense Council (HVO) in Mostar, HDZ President Dragan Covic also addressed the audience. In his address, he was especially emotional when he spoke about the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic.
After the initial thanks, Covic sent a message that the Croatian National Assembly (HNS) is celebrating everything that breathes in Croatian Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in every part of it. He said that he did not think only of Makljen and Ivan-sedlo, but that the anniversary of the founding of the HVO was marked in Posavina, and also central Bosnia and every part of BiH, Klix.ba writes.
He was especially emotional when he spoke about the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic, whom he thanked for his wisdom, determination, and audacity. He accused the great powers of trying to define history from 30 years ago in a different way, along with messages from Sarajevo. He emphasized that Milanovic is doing what is not popular to do.
“Thank you for pulling out something that is not popular today when it comes to the Croatian people when the great powers decided to define history from thirty years differently and send us messages about where we are, what we are like, and what we should be. We often get those messages from Sarajevo, ” Covicaccused.
He called on Croats to celebrate the anniversary of the formation of the HVO even more actively, to write and document “the historical truth about Croats in BiH in the homeland war“. He stressed the need for Croats in BiH to have their own history, their own historical facts through which they will be able to organize themselves as a European nation.
Covic pointed out that Croats in BiH today live between separatism and unitarism, and that for them there is no difference between the two phenomena, but that it differs from what they offer as the Croatian people.
Also, he expressed regret that he had failed to complete negotiations on the election law, which he called a strategic project. He said that the Croatian people would elect legitimate representatives at all levels of government in cooperation with friends from the Bosniak and Serb peoples.
“We will send a very clear message and we ask you to be with us. The Croatian people will elect their legitimate representatives at all levels of government in BiH. We want to do that with friends of the Bosniak and Serb people,” he said, after which thunderous applause could be heard.
He dedicated the last part of his address to the call for Croatian unity and pointed out that there must be no division, and that this unity is expressed through the HNS. He called on Croatia to help the Croats of BiH and to ignore the accusations of meddling in internal affairs.
