Covic says that unofficial Talks are already Underway

The Central Election Commission of BiH (CEC BiH) should announce the final results of the General Elections in BiH tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, after which we will start negotiations, said Dragan Čović, president of the HDZ and the HNS of BiH, today.

He expressed his belief that in the coming days CEC BiH will announce the results, first of all, due to, as he points out, its responsibility according to the law.

“You see how many problems there are with the counting of votes. What lasts two or three days in the world lasts about thirty days here. I am convinced that CEC BiH will announce the results tomorrow because of its responsibility according to the law. Immediately after that, we will start negotiating. In any case, I think that on November 3 or 4, intensive discussions will begin,” added Čović.

He points out that unofficial talks are already underway.

He repeated that, following the program, he will offer, and above all as a result of legitimate representation with the other two nations, as well as open discussions about cantons, entity governments and the Council of Ministers.

“In my opinion, it would be realistic to complete this process this year, even though it has been impossible so far in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have discussed with friends in informal conversations that we should complete the process 30 days after the formal declaration and resolution of all appeals of the election results. I think it is realistic,” he believes.

Čović emphasized that their program is simple and divided into three parts.

“We divided it into the Euro-Atlantic process, where electoral legislation will be one of the conditions of the reform activities that we must complete. The second is the rule of law and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina. No one brings up the issue of saber-rattling anymore, neither counting nor arming. We want to send a clear message to our people that this must be a place where they can live normally and that they have legal security,” he explained.

The third part of the program, says Čović, is economic and social opportunities.

“A large number of challenges are ahead of us, that’s why we need government as soon as possible. We said we will adopt the budget at all levels. I am sure, as we are talking today, that we can do it in this calendar year for next year,” concluded the president of HDZ and HNS BiH.
