The remains of at least two victims from the past war were exhumed today in the area of Bratunac and Srebrenica municipalities.

The spokeswoman of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH, Emza Fazlić, told FENA that, according to the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, and the Court of BiH, an exhumation was first carried out in the Osmače locality, Srebrenica municipality, where the remains of one victim were found.

According to her, it is assumed that this is a younger female person who disappeared in that area in 1993.

In the Bratunac area, an exhumation was carried out at the Buljin site, where the remains of at least one victim were found, who is believed to be a victim of the genocide committed in Srebrenica in 1995.

Fazlić notes that the remains that were exhumed today were found on the surface of the terain.

After the exhumation was completed, they were transferred to the Memorial Center in Tuzla, where forensic and medical processing will be performed, and bone samples will be taken to identify the victims through DNA analysis.
