In Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), over the past year, dozens of people suspected of drug trafficking, weapons, and murder have been arrested as a result of investigations into the use of SKY and ANOM mobile devices.

Among them are police officers, and suspects of drug trafficking, weapons, and prostitution. Some of them used these devices, and the messages they exchanged through them were deciphered by foreign police agencies.

They submitted them to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, which initiated investigations in which the police arrested, among others, the chief police inspector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska (RS), a state police officer who protected the building of the Presidency of BiH, and the head of the regional office of the Intelligence – Security Agency of BiH.

Keljmendi’s group was destroyed

Denis Stojnic, MMA fighter (mixed martial arts) and restaurant owner in the center of Sarajevo, is the last to be detained in the case opened by the BiH Prosecutor’s Office on the basis of deciphered SKY messages.

Stojnic is the best man of Elvis Keljmendi, who was detained in a police operation on July 12th, 2022, also as part of the investigation that was launched based on the use of SKY devices.

Moreover, Adis Prasovic, a senior inspector in the criminal police sector in Sarajevo, and police officer Amer Selak were also detained in this operation. They are suspected of money laundering, accepting gifts, and helping the perpetrator of a crime.

Drugs, prostitution, killing a policeman

In mid-November 2021, after the decryption of SKY messages, Bojan Cvijetic, a former advisor to the former Minister of State Security of BiH Dragan Mektic, was also detained.

Mladen Milovanovic, the inspector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS, was also arrested then. They are charged, among other things, with drug trafficking and helping criminal persons.

On April 13th, 2022, State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) members detained Jovan Savic, judge of the Basic Court in Bijeljina. The BiH Prosecutor’s Office charges him with ”receiving a bribe for revealing an official secret”, that is, cooperating with a suspect in organized crime. In addition to Judge Savic, 17 other people were detained in the operation for drug smuggling.

At the same time, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS detained Dalibor Railic at the end of March 2022, who, according to the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, is connected to the serious murder of Prijedor Criminal Police Chief Radenko Basic.

Dejan Jurisic, a police officer from Prijedor, was also taken into custody. He is suspected of having information that the assassination of Chief Basic was being planned, as well as of persons preparing the assassination, but that he did not pass it on to the authorities. Instead of protecting citizens, as stated in the indictment, he maintained contact with criminal persons.

Nedeljko Lubara, the chief inspector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS, was also detained in August of this year due to contact with suspected criminals. In the same month, Robert Radonjic, head of the office of the Intelligence – Security Agency of BiH in Banja Luka, was also detained, Radio Slobodna Evropa reports.
