The Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has issued an orange warning for this Tuesday. They warn of high rainfall that brings risks, especially in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. When it comes to wind gusts, the warning applies to the entire country. A cold snap is also expected.

In the south of our country, and partly in the central regions, we must be prepared for high rainfall that also brings certain risks when it comes to BiH – the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute warns.

“When it comes to rainfall, we expect higher amounts in the south and southwest of BiH and partly in the central regions – this is an area that is at risk due to intense rainfall and higher amounts expected in this period. The culmination of these rainfalls is expected on the night from Monday to Tuesday,” says Bakir Krajinović, meteorologist at the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute.

Professor at the Faculty of Forestry of UNSA Muhamed Bajrić believes that these new rainfalls, half the October rainfall, could cause catastrophic consequences.

The Jablanica Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters has issued a warning to legal and natural persons to take preventive protection and rescue measures against the forecasted heavy rainfall and strong gusts of southerly wind.

Due to the announced heavy rainfall and strong gusts of the south in the area of northwestern Herzegovina, the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters of Jablanica held an emergency session. Five orders were issued, placing all protection and rescue forces on alert. Three federal specialized Civil Protection units were also sent to Jablanica – a unit for water rescue, underwater rescue, and a unit for search and rescue in summer and winter conditions.

The heavy rainfall announced for the area of Herzegovina, as well as the orange warning issued by the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, have alarmed all municipal services in Jablanica. According to forecasts, 30 to 60 liters per square meter are expected, locally up to 100 liters. Fear is present among the residents of Donja Jablanica.
