Minister of Foreign Affairs of B&H Igor Crnadak stated in Belgrade on Saturday that B&H will submit application for membership in the EU on February 15 and that he expects B&H to obtain the candidate status in a year.
“B&H will submit its application for membership in the EU on February 15. I want to confirm that we have been notified by the Dutch Chairmanship that this date has been acknowledged as optimal, giving us enough time to complete certain things and make our application completely credible and authentic,” Crnadak said in Belgrade.
According to Crnadak, that is so far the most significant date on the European path of B&H and difficult and hard work now awaits the institutions of B&H.
“A questionnaire is now expecting us, which will be a great challenge. Estimations are that we will have record number of questions, given the complex structure of B&H,” Crnadak said, adding that in B&H there is a belief that “a period of one year after the submission of application is enough for B&H to obtain the candidate status”.
When it comes to Republika Srpska, Crnadak said that he does not believe that the referendum on Court and Prosecution of B&H will be held, as well as that it would bring no good.
