The Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, Kenan Magoda, today received the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vilayat Guliyev.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sarajevo National Theatre, Maestro Emir Nuhanović.

Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Sarajevo Canton and Azerbaijan in the fields of culture and tourism, with particular attention given to institutional collaboration between the Opera and Ballet of the Sarajevo National Theatre and the State Opera and Ballet in Baku.

Maestro Nuhanović briefed Minister Magoda on the outcomes of his recent official visit to Azerbaijan, where he held constructive talks with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture, Anar Kerimov, and the Director of the State Opera and Ballet, Yusif Ayvazov, regarding concrete forms of cooperation between the two institutions.

Minister Magoda expressed full institutional support for the initiative to organize a concert by Yusif Ayvazov in Sarajevo.

Ambassador Guliyev also proposed that the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board participate in the International Tourism Fair in Baku in 2026, stressing that Bosnia and Herzegovina – particularly Sarajevo and its surrounding area – represents an attractive and important destination for the Azerbaijani tourism market.
