A joint session of the Council for Economic Affairs, the Council for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, and the Council for Foreign Policy, operating under the Cabinet of the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic, was held yesterday.

At the session, the issue of energy security of BiH was considered, with particular focus on the Southern Gas Interconnection project.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that energy security represents one of the key issues for the long-term stability, sovereignty, and overall resilience of BiH, and that the Southern Gas Interconnection project has multiple strategic significance for the state.

It was stressed that the Southern Gas Interconnection contributes to the diversification of sources and routes of natural gas supply and to strengthening the energy independence of BiH. It was assessed that this is a project of particular strategic importance for the long-term interests of the state.

Becirovic emphasized that energy security represents one of the key strategic issues for the future of BiH, as it directly affects overall stability, economic development, and the international position of the state.

He stressed that BiH needs to pursue a responsible and long-term sustainable energy policy, based on strengthening energy independence and the resilience of the energy system.

The member of the Presidency of BiH pointed out that the establishment of the Council for Economic Affairs, the Council for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, and the Council for Foreign Policy during the course of the current mandate has fully justified its purpose.

He emphasized that it is of particular importance that the councils, through continuous work, have contributed to a higher-quality consideration of numerous important issues in our country.

It was especially emphasized that bringing together prominent representatives of the academic and professional community enables key issues to be viewed from different perspectives. In this context, Becirovic expressed gratitude to the members of the councils for their engagement and constructive contribution to the work so far, the Cabinet of the member of the Presidency of BiH announced.
