Assistant Mayor of the City of Sarajevo for urban planning, Nedreta Komarica, participated yesterday at the International Forum “Reactivate Sarajevo“. On that occasion, she spoke about potentials and challenges of the City of Sarajevo.
“The most significant current project is the revitalization of Trebevic ropewaywhich is a symbol of the city. Once a favorite resort of Sarajevo, Trebevic, represents the lungs of the city, given that this area has the highest concentration of oxygen in the region. For two years, we are working on ensuring funds for the start of the construction of Trebevic ropeway and ve managed to ensure 7 million BAM. Currently, there is a lack 4 million BAM that we are trying to collect as soon as possible in order to start with he construction“, said ur interlocutor.
“Besides these two projects, we are working on the preparations for holding the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOFA) in 2017. This festival will be held on Bjelasnica, Igman and Jahorina with the participation of 1.500 athletes from 50 countries of Europe and 2.000 guests. For this, it is necessary to build the certain infrastructure. We hope that we will succeed and get necessary funds in order to held this prestigious competition in B&H“, emphasized she.
White Fortress soon in a new light
By the funds of the City, construction reconstruction and archeological investigations of the mediaeval White Fortress were carried out.
“Currently, activities on giving the final purpose to this complex in the function of culture and tourism, and which was provided by the preliminary project of the academician Zlatko Ugljen, are in progress. In that sense, it is necessary to do a planning documentation in order to create conditions for the preliminary project to be implemented. We have certain problems but we will surely overcome them“, concluded Nadreta Komarica.
