[wzslider autoplay=”true”] Around 80 cyclists from Sarajevo, Zavidovici, Zenica, Visoko, Tesanj, Bihac, Cazin, Bosanska Krupa and Zagreb participated on the second “Tour de Culture BiH”, a unique event that aims to promote the valuable cultural and historical and natural resources of BiH.
The event is organized by the Foundation “Cultural Heritage without Borders – (CHwB) BiH, a non-governmental organization dedicated to the preservation, protection and promotion of cultural heritage, for the second year in a row. “Tour de Culture BiH” is supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in BiH in 2016.
“We want to show our participants valuable goods in different parts of the country with this event, to present food, music, folklore, customs, and traditions of the area they are visiting. We believe that there are valuable cultural resources in every part of our country that we have to meet in order to know how to preserve and protect them,” said Aida Vezic, Deputy Director of CHwB.
“Tour de Culture BiH” is promoting the importance of non-motorized transport and environmental protection, and this year it is organized with the aim to mark the European Heritage Days and the European Week of Mobility.
During this one-day event, participants visited old towns Pset and Ostrozac in Bosanska Krupa and Cazin, Museum of Una-Sana Canton and the Captain’s Tower in Bihac. They enjoyed cultural and artistic program and artistic creativity of local photographers at various localities, and had the opportunity to try the traditional cuisine of this part of BiH.
“As a participant in the Tour de Culture BiH for the second year in a row, I have nothing but praise for organization of the event. After Herzegovina, now we went to beautiful Krajina, which somehow is never on the way, and whose people are exceptional hosts and friends, as it was showed today. Each segment of the event, especially visits to cultural and historical and natural sites, was perfect,” said Nudzejma Softic, one of the participants.
“Tour de Culture BiH” is part of the initiative “Ucini svojim (Make it yours)”, within which CHwB implemented various activities to raise awareness about the importance of a common cultural heritage.
CHwB organized this year’s event with the help of recreational cycling club “Japod” from Bihac and travel agency “Visit Konjic” from Konjic.
