Former England captain David Beckham, Oscar winner Gary Oldman and The Who frontman Roger Daltrey were among the figures honored in King Charles III’s birthday honors list, released late Friday, Anadolu Agency reported.

Beckham, 50, who won 115 caps for England, 59 of them as captain, was knighted for his services to sport and humanitarian work. He has worked with UNICEF and malaria organizations for many years and was instrumental in the London 2012 Olympics.

“Growing up in east London with parents and grandparents who were proud Britons, I never imagined I would receive this honor,” Beckham said, according to the AP.

Actor Gary Oldman, 67, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour,” was honored for his services to the dramatic arts, both on film and stage.

Roger Daltrey (81), co-founder of the legendary band The Who, has been knighted for his services to music and his long-standing work in the humanitarian sector, particularly through the Teenage Cancer Trust.

More than 1,200 people have been honoured in this birthday list. Women make up 48 per cent of the recipients, and 11 per cent come from ethnic minorities.

The oldest among them is 106-year-old World War II veteran William Irwin, who was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to the community. The youngest recipient is 11-year-old Carmela Chillery-Watson, a disability rights campaigner who suffers from the rare muscular dystrophy and became the youngest recipient of the MBE in history.
