Yesterday, at the headquarters of the International Tennis Federation in London, was carried out the draw for the Davis Cup for the season 2017, and in the first round of the first group of Euro-African zone, which takes place from the 3rd to 5th of February, the team of BiH will welcome the team of Poland.
“These teams belong to the same rank, so I think the draw is favorable,” said the Director of Tennis Association of BiH, Senad Hadzimesic.
“Their first player is Janowicz who already played with our players and fans will probably remember Basic’s victory at a time when the Pole was the twenty-second racket of the world. They have strong double, and they have three players in the Top 100: Lukasz Kubot (20 ), Marcin Matkowski (38) and Mariusz Fyrstenberg (75), but it is the home ground, and I’m optimistic,” explained Hadzimesic.
The winner of the duel will play with the national team of Netherlands, and defeated team will go to play-off in order to stay in the group with the worse team from the match Slovakia-Hungary.
“BiH has a real chance to stay in the first group in the next season,” said Hadzimesic.
The second round is scheduled from the 7th to 9th of April, and third round for entry to the World Group from the 15th to 17th of September.
