In the presence of students, teachers, and numerous guests, the Day of Primary School “Novi Seher” was marked with a rich program. This school, attended by 375 students in 21 classes, is special in many ways in our country. While open national segregation still exists throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in this school classes are conducted in Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian, and all three religious studies are represented.
In order to show a true democratic commitment, they chose International Children’s Book Day as the day of the school. In this school, they are proud of the fact that, despite the pressures and temptations, they are still a truly multi-ethnic primary school.
“Teaching takes place according to the Croatian, Bosnian, as well as the Serbian curriculum. In fact, we function here as a real united family,” emphasizes school employee Maida Ajan.
With the support of the governments of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC) and the Federation of BiH (FBiH), as well as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and “Caritas”, they realized numerous valuable projects here, such as the construction of a new school gym with 450 seats worth 1.5 million BAM. All school facilities are included in the energy efficiency program.
The small ceremony at the school was also attended by the final grade students, who these days are choosing their vocation in life.
The students prepared a rich cultural and entertainment program, and this was an opportunity to present certificates of appreciation and recognition to friends of the school, but also to the most successful students and teachers.
