Days of Waqf 2015 faktor.baThe Seventh International Forum on the waqf-legal issues called “The Endowment of Productive Resources” was completed today, and one of the recommendations is that it is necessary to establish a Bank of waqf, as well as to form a Court of waqfs.

Reis-ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community in B&H Husein ef. Kavazović thanked the guests for the detailed lectures and open discussions on very important issues of the waqf of all Muslims of the world.

Kavazović reiterated that B&H is a country of the waqfs and that the most important BH cities were  established by the waqf and “as such have lived and will live on the grounds of its benefactors who bequeathed a part of their property and whose traces we can see in the region up to this day”.

He said that these were important legal issues for the Islamic Community of B&H and for BH muslims, the country where the Sharia law was applied until 1946, when the sharia courts in B&H were abolished, and that the standardization of the waqf issues is good perhaps for the future of the Sharia law in B&H.

“We think that precisely waqf and waqf issues and the adoption of laws on waqfs in B&H could mark the return of Sharia law and its application in our country”, said Kavazović and stressed that one of the important issues is the Shariah issue in B&H.

Therefore, he added, the three-day forum has a much wider significance than just the issues that have been problematized and discussed about.

He especially thanked the General Secretariat of the Waqf of Kuwait who have invested a lot for  this conference to be well organized, the Director of the Waqf Fund in B&H Senaid Zajimović, and to all those who have contributed to the success of the forum.

Kavazović also deems necessary a special conference on Zakat, to modernize this topic for the benefit of all the countries in the Balkans.

The Forum was attended by the eminent guests; the Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Forum Dr. Halid El-Mezkur, the Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Waqf of Kuwait Iman El-Humejdan, the representative of the Islamic Development Bank of Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Director General of the Office for Waqfs, Zakat and Hajj of Malaysia, Amman Bin Muhammed, and guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Macedonia.

The Waqf Directorate of the Islamic Community in B&H is organizing the event “Days of Waqf”,  dedicated to the waqfs in B&H, for the fifth consecutive year, and the forum was organized within the event.

This year’s event “Days of Waqf 2015” lasted from 15th to 29th of May.
