Director of the Agency for Statistics of BiH Velimir Jukić decided to sign the decision on the processing of data in accordance with the Law and international recommendations, confirmed Jukić’s deputy Fadil Fatić.
At a press conference, Jukić said that the decision in entirely in accordance with international recommendations and that the deadline for publishing of population census results will be met.
Jukić added that the Agency for Statistics of BiH will work hard on these activities and that he regrets that a consensus about the publishing has not been reached.
Deputy Director of the Agency for Statistics of BiH Fadil Fatić said he is satisfied with the reached decision, given that it is entirely in accordance with international recommendations and laws in BiH.
Furthermore, Fatić added that hard work is ahead, given that all future EU accession processes depend on the census results.
“This is the first big step of our country towards accession to the EU,“ Fatić said.
At the last session of the Central Census Bureau, directors of entity institutes for statistics concluded that the adoption of a unified program for data processing is in the exclusive jurisdiction of the Director of the Agency for Statistics of BiH Velimir Jukić.
After the session, Jukić said that he does not understand this legal regulation. Fatić reacted, highlighting that the Article 20 is entirely clean and that adoption of the decision is direct and clear jurisdiction of the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
Legal deadline for the publishing of official population census results, which cost around 50 million BAM, is July 1 this year. In case the agreement was not reached, census results would not obtain international verification.
