Defense Minister: The Arming of Kosovo represents a Danger for Serbia

The Minister of Defense of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, stated that he is concerned about the arming of Pristina with Javelin anti-tank missiles, and that everything that the Albanians in Kosovo get is a danger for Serbia.

“In the USA, all the procedures have been completed, they have approved the purchase of ‘Javelin’ and when you add what Turkey previously delivered to them, the USA, Germany, some and Croatia, while the British are working with them on training… NATO is not working directly on the creation and strengthening of the Kosovo army, but some member countries are directly involved in it. Everything that the Albanians in Kosovo get is a danger for Serbia,” warned Vucevic for TV Prva.

He points out that all criticisms of Serbia due to the large investments in arming its army, because the country is surrounded by NATO members, are simplified and even part of a psychological war, in order not to “discourage them and make everything meaningless”.

He said that the Serbian Army is not preparing for war, but quite the opposite, to keep the peace.

“We want to implement the ‘Leap into the Future’ program, and for that we need peace, not war. The army does not want war, it is there to be the guarantor of peace and the guardian of freedom, so that we are not a grain that any bird of prey would eat, which would swallow Serbia”, said Vucevic.

The Serbian minister stated that Serbia, as a serious country, is thinking about what would be the answer to everything that is being done in other countries, in Kosovo regarding the violation of UN Security Council resolution 1244, noting that Croatia is also arming itself and sending armored vehicles to Beli Manastir.

Vučević also announced that on January 30, a regular meeting will be held on the annual report on the situation in the Serbian Armed Forces, the President of the Republic and the entire top of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, where they will discuss what has been done and define the goals and objectives for the next period.

When it comes to the proposal for the renewal of regular military service in Serbia, the minister expressed his belief that a decision on this issue could be made during this year, adding that the Ministry and the Serbian Army remain firm with this initiative.
