A delegation from the Republika Srpska led by ministers Staša Košarc, Nenad Nešić, NSRS President Nenad Stevandić and East Sarajevo Mayor Ljubiša Ćosić paid tribute to the fallen members of the JNA in the area of the former Dobrovoljačka Street in Sarajevo.

Before arriving at the area of the former Dobrovoljačka Street, and today’s Hamdija Kreševljakovića, in East Sarajevo, a memorial service was held for the fallen members of the JNA.

“Until everyone in Sarajevo understands that respecting the victims is a two-way street, not a one-way street, and that if you want your victims to be respected, you have to respect other people’s,” said Nenad Stevandić.

After that, the delegation left for Sarajevo by bus, where they laid flowers and lit candles on the area of the former Dobrovoljačka Street.

On that occasion, RS Minister for Veteran Affairs Danijel Egić also addressed the public.

“We came to peacefully pay tribute to the members of the JNA who were killed here on this day. Even though that column that was moving down the street was not of an attacking nature, it was still attacked and unfortunately a terrible crime took place and several members were killed. For that crime, more no one answered and we as the government will insist that it be resolved. We will insist that all those who killed innocent civilians be brought to justice,” said the minister.

He said that the state of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina had not yet been declared at the time when the members of the JNA left Dobrovoljačka Street.

The President of the RS National Assembly, Nenad Stevandić, also addressed those present at Drvenija.

“We always and at every opportunity call for reconciliation, peace and mutual respect. This is only possible if the victims are equal. For every criminal, the victim is a legitimate goal. There is nothing worse than killing people you have given a guarantee. It has been many years. You cannot expect that some victims are respected and others are not, and that this is the path to peace. As for us, we will not give up fighting for the equality of the decisions of the RS as well as the rights of every victim. Until the victims are equal, until the victims are treated does not express equal respect and until there are equally civilized memorials both in Srebrenica and here, we will not give up,” said Stevandić.

He also referred to the statement of the former general of the JNA, Milutin Kukanjec, who said that the exact number of people who died in Dobrovoljačka is known.

“His statements are bidding. Not everyone died at the same second. Some died a day or two later,” he said.

When asked whether the RS will stop denying the genocide in Srebrenica, Stevandić replied that all citizens abide by the decisions of the RS National Assembly.

“There are decisions of the NSRS that allow every citizen to have his own position. You cannot create a kind of ideology that incriminates one nation and not another,” Stevandić concluded.

In addition to the above, the delegation was led by the representative of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Boško Tomić, and representatives of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Kojić and Miroslav Vujičić, acting director of the Center for Research on War, War Crimes and the Search for Missing Persons, Viktor Nuždić, Klix.ba reports.
