Delegation of the EU in BiH and the Association ”STOP mines” Pale signed a contract worth 1.3 million EUR

Delegation of the EU in BiH and the Association ”STOP mines” Pale signed a contract worth 1.3 million BAM which will be used to clear out 60 suspicious and risky locations in BiH and to also it will be used to connect anti-mine actions in development in local communities.

The project will start in spring 2013, and should last for 20 months.

30 deminers in three teams, two demining machines, as well as specially trained dogs will work on the project ”Support for strategy of demining action”.

All demining tasks are determined by Mine Action Centre in BiH according to the lists of priorities.

This project of humanitarian demining operations will be finances by the EU from IPA funds with 1.125 million BAM, while local communities will give 175 000 EUR.

“Stop Mines” has successfully completed three projects that the EU has financed which were worth about 5 million EUR.

Within these three completed projects, 6.2 million square meters of high-risk areas at 162 sites in 45 municipalities in BiH has been cleared out.

Very valuable equipment for humanitarian demining has been acquired during these projects.
